You can take a stroll alongside Trinity Bay on the walkways of the Esplanade, finishing up with a cool swim in the modern Esplanade lagoon.

For a really unique experience, take the historic scenic train or Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to Kuranda, known locally as the "Village in the Rainforest," where there are many market stalls and shops with local arts and handicrafts.

There are also a number of wildlife parks in and around Cairns (including Kuranda) so you can get up close to local animals, birds and plants.
